AirAsia is set to launch the Kuala Lumpur-Perth route on March 11.
The airline will operate one round trip per day. AirAsia X, a medium-haul carrier, already operates one round trip per day on this route, with AirAsia’s entry serving as a complement. This will be the first time that AirAsia, a short-haul airline, will serve this route. The introduction of the Airbus A321neo has made it possible to operate flights to Australia.
From January to October 2023, AirAsia X has had about 30,000 passengers on the Kuala Lumpur-Perth route. The passengers, by nationality, predominantly include Australians, Malaysians, Indians, Chinese, and New Zealanders.
