JR Kyushu to Resume Operation of the ‘Pikmin Train’ on January 31 Following a Level Crossing Accident in December
JR Kyushu will resume the operation of the ‘Pikmin Train (Series 885)’ on January 31 as part of their ‘PIKMIN×JR Kyushu – Explore the Enchanting Planet Kyushu’ project.
The service was suspended due to vehicle repairs following a level crossing accident that occurred on December 29, 2024, between Usa and Nishiyashiki stations on the Nippō Main Line. The operating schedule for the three days following the resumption date will be published on a special website. The resumption date is subject to sudden changes.
The ‘Pikmin Train’ features one Series 885 Express vehicle, one Series 787 vehicle, and three BRT Hikoboshi Line vehicles, all decorated with Pikmin designs inside and out. Gachapon machines with original goods will be installed in the Series 885 and 787 vehicles. The operation period for the Series 885 is from December 7 to mid-May, for the Series 787 from February 1 to early July, and for the BRT Hikoboshi Line from December 14 to June 30.
