Pratt & Whitney announced that the GTF Advantage engine has obtained type certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The latest engine for the Airbus A320neo family offers a 4-8% increase in takeoff thrust, allowing for increased payload and extended range. It is compliant with specifications to use 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Deliveries are expected to begin later this year.
Rick Deurloo, President of the Commercial Engines Division, commented, “The GTF Advantage engine enhances its superiority and improves aircraft performance, offering operators of the A320neo family, particularly long-range aircraft like the A321XLR, greater thrust and further value with a more durable configuration. This certification and engine delivery are scheduled to occur as planned later this year, aligning perfectly as Pratt & Whitney celebrates 100 years as a power source of the future in 2025.”
