ANA Implements Special Ticket Measures Due to Typhoon No. 6
Japanese low-cost carrier Skymark Airlines will strengthen its initiatives for “fuel‑efficient operations” aimed at reducing environmental impact and fuel consumption, in response to concerns over aviation fuel supply and soaring prices caused by the situation in the Middle East.
Specific measures for fuel‑efficient operations include selecting optimal cruising altitude and speed, implementing Continuous Descent Approach (CDA), early engine shutdown and delayed engine start, and minimizing the use of the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU). By fiscal year 2026, the airline also plans to begin taxiing after landing using only one engine.
By combining multiple measures on the Tokyo/Haneda to Fukuoka route, Skymark expects total fuel savings equivalent to approximately 113 kilometers, or about 2.5% of overall fuel consumption.
In addition, to prevent the cabin temperature from rising while parked, taxiing on the ground, or during disembarkation, Skymark will ask passengers to cooperate by lowering their window shades.
The airline notes that all these initiatives will be implemented in accordance with relevant regulations and that there are no safety issues.
