Emirates to Deploy Airbus A350-900 on Dubai–Mauritius Route from November 1
Singapore Airlines has unveiled its next-generation cabin products for long-haul routes.
The airline will invest more than SGD 2 billion in seats across First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy Class, and Economy Class. It will retrofit 41 Airbus A350-900 long-haul aircraft and Airbus A350-900ULR aircraft, while the products will also be progressively installed on Boeing 777-9 aircraft to be introduced in the future.
The Boeing 777-9 will feature new products in all classes. The retrofitted Airbus A350-900 and Airbus A350-900ULR aircraft will receive new Business Class seats, while First Class will be introduced on the Airbus A350-900ULR for the first time. Service is scheduled to begin from the second half of 2027.
First Class enhances both privacy and a sense of openness with curved sliding doors and walls. The interiors use Poltrona Frau leather, while the wall panels feature batik patterns.
By lowering the divider between them, center seats can be transformed into a two-person sofa or a double bed measuring 80 inches long and 60 inches wide. According to Singapore Airlines, this is the largest double bed on a commercial aircraft. Bedding includes 100% cotton linens and a duvet, as well as a mattress topper by Germany’s Paradies. Each seat also allows passengers to dine face-to-face using a large folding table.
The seats offer electrically adjustable side wings, upper and lower lumbar support, armrests, leg rests, and ottomans. A storage space for carry-on baggage is provided beneath the ottoman. Other features include a leather-lined vanity drawer, wireless charging pad, and a touchscreen displaying flight time, local time and weather at the destination, Wi-Fi connection status, and lavatory availability.
Business Class features full-grain leather upholstery with embroidered and metallic accents. The fully flat bed measures 79 inches in length and up to 24 inches in width. Some center seats can be used as companion beds by lowering the divider, and come with padded sheets made using memory foam.
The ergonomic design links adjustments supporting the back, legs, and body. The leg rest and center-seat divider are electrically adjustable, and sliding privacy doors are also provided. The large folding table is designed to be stored diagonally, maximizing foot space. Other features include a cocktail tray, multiple storage compartments, and a wireless charging pad. In-flight entertainment is offered through a high-resolution 4K touchscreen, with support for spatial audio and Bluetooth headphones.
First Class and Business Class are equipped with smart cabin control functionality that remembers passengers’ preferred seat positions and lighting settings across flights. It is integrated with myKrisWorld.
Premium Economy Class offers a 40-inch seat pitch and full-grain leather upholstery, with up to 9 inches of recline. It features a four-way adjustable headrest and a leg rest with an adjustable footrest. The monitor will be a 4K touchscreen of up to 16 inches.
Economy Class features ergonomically designed cushions, a four-way adjustable headrest, and a recline mechanism that increases space for the knees and shins. The monitor is a 4K touchscreen of up to 13 inches, supporting spatial audio and Bluetooth. A separate display allows passengers to check Wi-Fi connection status, lavatory availability, and more.
More than 5,000 customers, staff members, and industry experts worldwide were surveyed during the development process. PriestmanGoode designed First Class, Designworks designed Business Class, and Factorydesign designed Premium Economy Class and Economy Class. Collins Aerospace will manufacture the First Class, Premium Economy Class, and Economy Class products, while RECARO Aircraft Seating will produce the Business Class product.
Lee Lik Hsin, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), commented, “While each cabin class has been individually designed, they share a common purpose: to deliver a more comfortable, flexible, and enriching experience.”
