Strings Hotel Tokyo InterContinental is offering the ‘Chinese Afternoon Tea Inspired by Tea’ until July 9.
The tea leaves used are from Ippodo Tea Co., a venerable Kyoto-based Japanese tea specialty store, such as gyokuro, sencha, and hojicha. The welcome tea, “Original Eight Treasures Tea,” is a special blend of seasonal new tea blended with ingredients beneficial to the body.
The menu includes 10 types of Chinese sweets such as “Almond jelly with gyokuro” and “Genmaicha Taiwanese Castella,” and 4 types of savory items such as “Sencha jelly with Ezoe abalone” and “Kyobancha smoked vegetables assortment.” Options to add dishes such as jade cold noodles and five-grain fried rice are available. The drink menu offers a variety of Chinese and Japanese teas on a free-flow basis, and a plan including champagne is also available.
The venue is the Chinese restaurant ‘China Shadow.’ The service hours are from noon to 2 p.m. (last order) and from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (same). The price starts from 6,600 yen, service charge not included, tax included.
