Hong Kong Airlines Launches Sendai-Hong Kong Route with Ceremonies at Both Airports
Hong Kong Airlines has launched a new route between Sendai and Hong Kong on December 18.
The service operates three round trips per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, using the Airbus A320 aircraft configured with 174 seats.
Inaugural ceremonies were held at both Hong Kong International Airport and Sendai Airport, attended by dignitaries including Yang Bo, Chairman at Hong Kong International Airport, Ray Lee, General Manager of Hub Development at the Airport Authority Hong Kong, and representatives from the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s Japan branch, Sendai International Airport, and Miyagi Prefecture.
Jeff Sun, President of the airline, said during the ceremony, “The launch of the Sendai route represents a further step in our commitment to the Japanese market, offering a convenient option for passengers traveling between Hong Kong and Sendai. With a flight time of just over four hours, travelers can easily explore the historical and natural attractions of the Tohoku region. We are also looking forward to welcoming guests from Sendai and nearby areas to experience the unique festive atmosphere of Hong Kong, and to enjoy our city’s renowned cuisine. Hong Kong Airlines is dedicated to providing all passengers with a comfortable journey, offering flexible baggage check-in options, complimentary in-flight meals, and comfortable seating among other services.”
The route is also served by Greater Bay Airlines and HK Express during the winter schedule. Hong Kong Airlines reports that bookings for its Japan routes during Christmas and the Lunar New Year have reached a 90% reservation rate.
