Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka will offer the “Princess Afternoon Tea – Mermaid –” from July 1 through August 31.
Based on the theme of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale “The Little Mermaid,” the afternoon tea expresses an underwater world with sweets inspired by seashells, coral, and other marine motifs. Guests can enjoy a variety of summer-fruit sweets such as a layered glass dessert of coconut panna cotta, peach, and blue jelly topped with chocolate shaped like a trident, a tropical fruit mousse evoking the ocean floor, macarons shaped like shells, coral tarts, and cream puffs modeled after spiral shells. Savories include four kinds of items such as focaccia sandwiches filled with frikadeller, a Danish meat dish from the story’s setting, and smoked salmon served in an ocean jelly style. In addition to a welcome drink named “Longing for the Sun,” there is a free-flow selection of about 25 beverages including Ronnefeldt teas, blended teas, and coffee. A dinner course that features the afternoon tea sweets is also available.
The venue is Restaurant & Lounge Bar “eu.” The afternoon tea is served from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and reservations are required by 5:00 p.m. the day before. Prices are JPY 6,500 on weekdays and JPY 7,000 on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, tax and service charge included.
