IHG to Open ‘Holiday Inn & Suites Sapporo Odori Park’ This Fall
NTT Urban Development has announced that Urban Net Sapporo Link Tower was completed on June 30.
It is located on the former headquarters site of Hokkaido Broadcasting Co., Ltd. (HBC) in the center of Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, surrounded by the Hokkaido Government Office and Odori Park, with access via underground walkways from Sapporo Station and Odori Station.
The building has 26 floors above ground, 2 basement levels, and 1 penthouse floor. The site area is 4,606.21 square meters, and its total floor area is 60,916.06 square meters. In the North Tower, floors 3 through 16 are office space, while floors 17 through 26 house all 216 guest rooms of Hyatt Centric Sapporo. In the South Tower, floors 2 through 7 are occupied by the startup support facility “HooK,” while floors B1 through 2 contain retail and other facilities. From the second basement level, the building connects to the public underground walkway of the Kita 1-jo underground parking lot.
HooK is scheduled to open on July 15, and several retail outlets, including “Chokotto Sushi Kiwa-bi,” “Curry Udon Oni wa Soto,” and “NorthContinent Akarenga,” will open on September 1. Hyatt Centric Sapporo is also set to open in the autumn.
Although completion was originally planned for February 2024, Taisei Corporation, which was in charge of construction, revealed that steel frame erection at multiple locations did not meet the quality standards agreed with the client, and that slab thickness accuracy defects had been discovered. As a result, all above-ground portions and the relevant underground sections were demolished and rebuilt. This caused the completion to be delayed by approximately 2 years and 4 months.
